Deeping Rangers exited the Lincs Senior Cup last night (Tuesday) after losing a penalty shoot-out with Holbeach United at the Haydon Whitham Stadium.

The visitors took the lead through Ben Brown in the 17th minute and went in at half time ahead.

But a double from Deeping’s Charlie Coulson in the 48th and 55th minute momentarily turned the match around.

But Rangers’ lead was shot lived with the Tigers back level a minute later when Jonny Allen’s cross was deflected past Deeping keeper Danny Bircham by defender Matt Holland.

Neither side could make a break-through during regular time sending the match to penalties.

Deeping had a terrible start, with Spencer Tinkler only managing to smash his effort into the underside of the cross bar and then had to watch as it bounced to safety.

The next three takers were all successful with David Burton-Jones scoring for Deeping and Livo Dube and Lee Beeson for Holbeach.

Rangers then got themselves into deeper trouble when Jamie Graham failed for Deeping before Ollie Pinner netted the third Holbeach kick.

Despite the pressure Matt Carter netted for Deeping and then Gary King wasted the chance to seal the win for Holbeach when he faltered.

But in the end his mistake was not costly as Tigers won the shoot-out without having to take their final kick as keeper Bircham missed with the last Deeping spot kick, striking the crossbar like his teammate had moments later.
