Langtoft targeting promotion

Warboys Town 0 Langtoft United 4

LANGTOFT kept up the pressure on Stilton and Riverside at the top of the Peterborough and District League’s First Division with a 4-0 win at struggling Warboys.

United were 3-0 up at half-time and comfortably ran out winners, adding a fourth after the break.

Luke Newbold opened the scoring after 10 minutes when the Warboys keeper could only parry a James Goode shot.

Paul Kirk doubled Langtoft’s lead with a rasping drive from distance that left the home side’s keeper rooted to the spot.

Man of the match Callum Fox scored the third – possibly the best of the game – beating three or four players before bending the ball into the far corner.

Fox then claimed the fourth after a shot from Kirk squirmed from the keeper’s hands.

Langtoft have narrowly missed out on promotion the last two seasons and chairman Barry Woodthorpe said: “We have now gone nine undefeated and with all the top teams to play we are aiming to get promoted this season.”
