Bourne Ladies clinched the S-Tech League Championship North title on Sunday with a 6-5 win over local rivals Stamford.
Bourne Ladies captain Jemma Smith said: “We are delighted as a team to have won the league, it has taken a lot of hard work from the players, managers and everyone associated with Bourne Ladies and we look forward to the challenge of the Premiership next season.”
In a close affair, Bourne broke the deadlock through Tracey Duxbury-Mead, shortly followed by Kim Fairweather doubling the hosts’ lead.
This was short-lived though, as Stamford pulled the score back level, before Lottie Ayers put Bourne in front again going into the break.
More goals came in the second half, as Stamford levelled the score once more.
But two quick goals from Claire Lawrenson gave Bourne a cushion, however Stamford once again pulled it back to 5-4.
Kim Fairweather then completed her brace with Bourne’s last goal of the game, with Stamford hitting back in the dying moments of the game.
Player of the match went to Rachel Garratt.
Bourne Ladies manager Ian Bartram was delighted with the result. He said: “The game was played in the right spirt between two good teams, and I am very proud to have managed the ladies to the league title.”
Bourne finish their campaign at home on Sunday, playing second place March Town Ladies.
