Deeping Rangers lost 3-1 to Yaxley on Friday night in the ChromaSport UCL Premier Division.

This game at Yaxley’s In2Itive Park started brightly with both sides looking to gain the advantage but eventually it was the home side who controlled and ran out easy winners.

Scott Ginty intercepted a JP Duncliffe pass and released Matt Heron into the home box, his shot was saved by home keeper Aaron Butcher well with his feet with the ball falling to Alex Beck whose shot was again dealt with by Butcher in the same manner.

Yaxley took the lead on 12 minutes. A Hughes corner was missed by the flailing Doughty and hit Ollie Gale and the touch was enough for the ball to cross the line.

The goal shook Rangers and before they could regroup they found themselves further behind.

Liam Hook played the ball into the Deeping box and the Flack clearance went straight to Hughes and he blasted the ball beyond the helpless Doughty from 20 yards.

Rangers responded and Lewis Stones put in a cross that was met by Heron to lay off for Griffiths, but his off-balance shot was wide.

Josh Moreman was then released down the right but his progress was halted by home keeper Butcher’s foul.

From the resulting free-kick by Scott Ginty, Heron rose at the far post to head back for Griffiths to control and rifle home on 26 minutes.

In the second half Deeping made changes but it did not improve the performance.

The game became bitty and littered with stoppages although good play from Graham saw the home side increase their advantage when he played a one-two with Hook to slot the ball into the far corner past the advancing Doughty on 63 minutes.

Rangers’ boss Tuncay Korkmaz exchanged personnel, with Ryan Oliver replacing Flack and Kev Gilbert replacing the out-of-sorts Moreman, but they continued to play too many passes that the home side dealt with them easily.

As full-time approached Deeping did step up the pressure with Oliver shooting high, Ginty forcing a save from Butcher and Griffiths hitting a low drive just wide of the post.

Overall the Rangers performance was not that of a side sitting second in the table and the home side deserved the victory.
