A poor 25 minute spell in the first half cost Deeping Rangers Res their biggest defeat of the season, eventually losing 7-0 to Peterborough ICA Sports.
ICA who always looked dangerous on the counter, with their winger Tom Flatters having bags of pace to beat the Deeping defence, were 1-0 up after a good start by Rangers.
But on 25 minutes Jacob Smitheringale was exposed to the ICA pace of Jordan Mcleod and the referee awarded a straight red card for a challenge in the box when the ICA front man was clear through.
The incident was Deeping’s downfall and they conceded five goals in the next 25 minute to be 6-0 down at half time.
Deeping showed character to leaked just one goal, a penalty, after the break.
Deeping manager Simon Dethick said: “ I have to commend the lads for what was a great reaction in the second half. To lose the half 1-0 with 10 men against a good ICA side was just what I needed to see, after a first half I’d like to forget about.
“I have to hold my hands up as I never reacted quick enough to the sending off in the first half but the second half performance made my afternoon.”
