Rangers travelled to Chestnut Avenue looking to consolidate their aim of a UCL Premier Division top three position and a strong performance was too much for Peterborough Northern Star, running out comfortable 4-0 winners.

In blustery conditions Deeping went on the offensive from the kick off and took the lead on 5 minutes.

Scott Ginty released Kev Gilbert down the right, his cross found Mitch Griffiths whose miss-hit shot was nudged home by Josh Moreman as Nick Conroy advanced.

Griffiths should have doubled the advantage when he got on the end of Stacey Cartwright’s long pass but was thwarted by home keeper Conroy while a rare Star effort came as Dean Hopewell’s long range effort forced James Doughty to tip over.

Ginty had a left foot drive that saw Conroy get at the second attempt and then Ginty flashed at a loose ball and saw his effort strike the far post and into the hands of Conroy.

Rangers doubled their lead on 29 minutes. Spencer Tinkler’s kick forward was headed down by Matt Heron into the path of Moreman and he rifled home from the edge of the box.

Deeping continued to dominate and Cartwright saw his effort taken by Conroy, Moreman then drove a free kick wide of the far post and Moreman took Ginty’s quick free kick to cross for David Burton-Jones to miss-kick on the goal line.

As half time approached Rangers increased the lead.

Moreman won the ball on half way and released Gilbert down the right behind the home defence where he crossed for Griffiths who missed his kick for the ball to fall for Matt Heron to smash the ball past Conroy.

Deeping started the second half as they had finished the first and went on the attack and increased the lead within 50 seconds.

Griffiths ran at the heart of the home defence to lay off for Gilbert who saw his shot parried by Conroy into the path of Mitch Griffiths who slotted home past the helpless Conroy to make it 4-0 and effectively end the game as a contest with the keepers having little else to do.
