NINE members of one of the most successful Bourne Town teams ever were reunited last Saturday.
Under the guidance of then manager Terry Bates, the Wakes won the UCL championship three times in four seasons between 1968 and 1972.
Those in attendance were Mick Sissins, Frank Johnson, Jimmy Jackson, George Campbell, Denys Greenfield, Chris Notley, Colin Needham and Bert Linnecor.
The group were in at the Abbey Lawn to see the current crop of Bourne players lose 1-0 to Cogenhoe United at the Abbey Lawn.
Now life president of the club, Bates said: " For me, they were one of, if not the most, enjoyable times of all my years in sport.
"What a superb set of players and people and what a team they were.
"We had hoped to see a Bourne win but it was not to be on the day."
Bates added that they are planning another get together on February 20.
