BOURNE TOWN 2 (Orrey 55, Toyne pen 80)
ST IVES TOWN 8 (Fielding 22, 28, 63, 65 & 70, Kennett 30, Pilsworth 85, King 90)
BOURNE Town were on the receiving end of a heavy beating as St Ives Town ran riot at the Abbey Lawn.
Hot-shot striker Liam Nimmo made his much anticipated Wakes debut after signing from Holbeach United on Friday, but it later emerged that this would be his one and only game for the club (see back page).
St Ives' Scott Fielding had a day to remember, netting five of his sides goals - including three in seven second-half minutes.
Wakes player/boss Neil Thorpe said: "I'm very disappointed and embarrassed with this result.
"Our defending was shocking and I made the players aware of it after the game.
"In terms of quality, they were no better than us – we just failed to defend the long ball.
"One of our players was at fault for five of the goals, which sadly isn't good enough at this level."
The result sees Bourne plummet into the bottom three, after losing their last four league games on the spin.
The Wakes were already 3-0 down when striker Lee Orrey got his first – and last – goal for the club.
The frontman is following strike partner Nimmo out of the club.
But the Fielding show continued and he completed a five-goal haul 20 minutes from time
Andy Toyne scored an 80th minute Bourne consolation, netting the rebound after James Jackson saved his spot kick.
But St Ives added two more goals to complete the rout, Dan Pilsworth netting with a header on 85 minutes and Jason King making it eight in the final minute.
Wakes: Bellairs, Harper, Richardson (Harrison), Thorpe (King), Ridout, O Smith, Currall, Broome, Nimmo, Orrey, Toyne.
