Bourne Ladies' 3rd saw their hopes of victory against Spilsby dashed in a nail-biting finish.
The final decisive tie-breaker went against them by the agonisingly narrow margin of two games, yielding defeat for Bourne by four rubbers to five.

Susan Cary and Sue Ward recovered well from 1-6, 2-6 to set the team on a winning path with 6-1, 3-6, 10-6; 6-3, 6-3.

Sally Bradley and Rosemary Wilson built on this foundation with a 3-6, 2-6; 6-1, 5-7, 10-6; 6-2, 6-0 win.

It was left to Pat Holman and Joyce Slater to find the crucial rubber but after struggling to 1-6, 1-6; 1-6, 3-6 they pulled out all the stops after 0-6 to claim an inspired 6-4 before just failing to clinch what would have been a remarkable overall win in the final 10-12 tie-break.
