BRACKLEY 10 DEEPINGS 15
DEEPINGS ground out a victory on a windswept Saturday afternoon.

But after shining against Vauxhall Motors the previous weekend, the Green Machine got a real shock at unfancied Brackley.

Opting to play with the wind, Deepings
started strongly and pegged Brackley back in their 22 with well placed kicks from fly-half Nick Dobie.

Pressure was soon to be converted into points, as powerful running from Matt Jackson opened a hole in the Brackley defence for Pete Bradley to score.

Constant pressure on the Brackley defence then led to a penalty, which Dobie slotted over.

With time running out in the half, dominant forward play led to a Matthew Papworth score.

Dobie again converted to take his individual points tally to 50 for the season.

With only 15 points on the board, and 40 minutes to come of playing into the wind, Deepings had a task on their hands.

Brackley used the wind as a 16th man, constantly putting pressure kicks on full-back Olly Peacock.

Under pressure in their own 22m area, Deepings became lazy and through poor discipline at the ruck, conceding a penalty kick, resulting in three points and a Deepings player sin-binned for ten minutes.

With the 14-man defence stretched, the home side finally found a crack, resulting in a converted try.

Deepings battened down the hatches in a frantic few minutes.

Any ball kicked into the Deepings 22 was cleared, and any running attack was rushed and brought down.
