JET-HEELED wing ace Ryan Semple believes Deeping Rangers are more than capable of climbing the non-league ladder.
The former Peterborough United star, who has sampled life as a professional, believes a host of his team mates have what it takes to play much higher.

And Semple, whose 13 goals have fired Rangers to the top of the Eagle Bitter UCL Premier Division, admits he is relishing his spell at Outgang Road.

He said: "I'm really enjoying my time at Deeping. The team spirit here is as good as I've ever experienced.

"I've been shocked to find out that most of the lads have never played any higher than this – they are definitely capable.

"Our aim is to get promotion and we are all confident of achieving that."

Semple's switch to Deeping raised eyebrows around the non-league scene, as he swapped the glitz and glamour of the Football League for the blood and thunder of the Eagle Bitter UCL.

Widely regarded as the best player at this level, Semple admits he still holds aspirations to return to the big time.

But he is happy at Rangers for now, having turned down moves to higher-graded Corby Town and Gainsborough Trinity.

He added: "Dave Simpson (assistant boss), who I knew from my time at Posh academy, gave me a call and asked if I was available.

"I decided to come down for training and I am delighted I did.

"It's great to be back playing regularly and enjoying my football again.

"Whatever happens in the future, I'll always be grateful to Tuncay Korkmaz and the club for what they have done for me.

"I honestly believe I can get back to where I was and if the chance came my way it'd be hard to turn down – the boss knows that."

Semple has also admitted his surprise at the standard of the UCL Premier Division, and highlighted Daventry Town – who thrashed Deeping 5-2 back in August – as the club's main rivals for the title.

Dropping down the footballing ladder has also allowed Semple to dedicate more time to his own academy, Semple Soccer.

Eager to share his talent and experience with aspiring children, the wing king has a clear vision for the venture.

He added: "My aim for the school is to make it the best place for children to improve and enjoy football in this area.

"I obviously want players who have realistic aspirations of having a career in the game.

"But kids who want to have more light hearted fun are also welcome. We cater for both."

Semple also has a message for any youngsters who dream of following in his footsteps as a professional.

He said: "If you work hard and do absolutely everything you can, then there is a great chance you will get to where you want to be."

Semple Soccer is starting up again in two weeks, and is currently looking to spread into schools in Bourne and the rest of South Lincolnshire.
