FORMER biking champion Stuart Machin made a stunning return to the track last weekend after a year in the wilderness.
Machin, who won the New Era championship on his Honda Hornet in 2005, stormed to thee wins and a second at Snetterton.

After showing some promising form in Friday's practice session, the Bourne racer stormed to first place on the grid for Saturday's races.

He made the position count, roaring to victory in the first race and setting the fastest lap time of the weekend (1.19.76min).

Machin then completed a Saturday double by edging out Michael Wakefield and Lee Hardy to win the second race.

Fatigue kicked in on Sunday, with a lack of race fitness meaning Machin dropped two places to third on the grid.

But he battled back to finish second behind Hardy in the first race, after dropping down to eighth at one stage.

However, he showed his class to claim a win in the final race of the weekend, forcing Hardy into second.

  • Machin is looking sponsorship in order to mount a title challenge in 2009.

  • Anybody interested can call the team co-ordinator on 07799 695722 or Machin on 07802 420218 before 8pm.
