MARCUS Howard's stoppage time winner dramatically snatched the Peterborough Junior Alliance Under-13 league title for Deeping Rangers.

They had only been given only a slim chance of winning the title with Wisbech St Mary Purple needing only one point from two games.

However, Nigel Reeve's boys took maximum points in their final home game last Wednesday which saw the destiny of the title going down to the last day of the season.

Deeping were in command at Wisbech St Mary with two Matt Sparrow goals in the first ten minutes, but conceded two later in the half and went into the break level at 2-2.

With ten minutes of the second half gone Sparrow scored again to complete his hat-trick and that's how it stayed until two minutes into added time when Wisbech St Mary levelled it at 3-3 – and thought that it was all over.

However, Deeping had other ideas and two minutes later from a flicked-on free kick Howard scored from close range to clinch the league title, sending the large Rangers contingent delirious.

BOURNE'S brilliant form of recent weeks carried into their final game of the season.

They have played well against Ruskington previously but the scoreline hasn't always reflected the game.

Aimee Knowles and Ellen Simmons worked really hard up front and were rewarded for their efforts.

Knowles scored the first goal and Simmons continued her good form with a goal in each half.

Sammy Hawkins unleashed her unstoppable shooting power, which has been seen week in, week out in training and showed the confidence she has gained during the season.

She shot from inside the centre circle, with the ball hitting the underside of the bar, bouncing down over the goalline and up into the roof of the net.

Megan Stone completed the scoring, coming off the bench to score her second goal of the season with a fine low drive, completing a fine team performance.

Emma Windsor had a great game, making some fine tackles and timely interceptions, but her game was unfortunately cut short through injury.

Anna Sippel organised her fellow defenders very well and encouraged her team-mates throughout.

Goalkeeper Katie Smith made some terrific saves and finished the season with a clean sheet.

Player of the Match: Anna Sippel and Emma Windsor.

Team: Aimee Knowles, Amy Bellairs, Amy Hammond, Anna Sippel, Ellen Simmons, Emma Windsor, Eloise Reader, Hollie Willis, Jenny Smith, Katie Smith, Lauren Leaper, Leanne Ebrey, Megan Stone, Sammy Hawkins.

Bourne U/8s Blue 3 Bourne U/9s Orange 0

Blue's remarkable recovery from their early season woes was in evidence as they swept their under-nine counterparts aside with a 3-0 vicory.

Josh Lavery had another outstanding game and slotted the opening goal into the corner of the net after picking his way through several tackles.
