Winkworth Cup: Bourne (119) lost to Woodhall Spa (121-4) by six wickets
BOURNE crashed out of the Winkworth Cup at the first hurdle on Monday.

They went down by six wickets to Woodhall Spa at Abbey Lawn.

It followed a losing draw in the league for David Christmas's Bourne side at home to Messingham on Saturday.

The cup defeat was always on the cards after Bourne limped to 119 all out in the 37th over.

Professional Mark Fotheringham made his first start as an opener, but faced only 11 balls before being bowled for eight with Bourne on 29.

By then fellow opener Ben Stroud was already back in the clubhouse with Oliver Lindley, who was bowled for no further runs after Fotheringham's dismissal.

Only Christmas, who hit five fours to make 29 off 55 balls, contributed well.

Aaron Keverne-Onyon did the most damage with the ball, taking a superb 5-25.

Woodhall had a measly target to pick off, but Tom Dolby gave Bourne some hope by removing opener Ricky Lovelace to make it 4-1.

Christmas took the wickets of opener Daniel Milgate and number three Conrad Louth, but Sam Evison (37no) and Kevern-Onyon (4no) steered the visitors to victory after Jack Luffman had clubbed 34.
