ATHLETICS: Harriers' big turnout

BOURNE Town Harriers sent their biggest team of the season to Bushfield for round two of the Frostbite League
Thirty two seniors and 11 juniors raced for the Harriers in the five-mile run.

Notable performances from the junior team saw Adam and Marcus Swallow finish 10th and 20th – helping the team to fourth place in the table.

finishers: 19th Reece Hannah; 28th Oliver Bowling; 39th Megan Hannah; 42nd Amy Gibbons; 72nd Cameron Everist; 79th Lucas Fidler; 80th Abigail Vergette; 107th Luke Brown; 108th Jasmine Oldfield.

In the seniors, Matt Grace finished in sixth position, leaving the team seventh in the league.

  • Nene Valley Harriers were at Corby on Saturday for the second North Midlands League fixture.


  • Under-11 boy Alex Hampson followed up his win at Derby with a fine run to win convincingly.

    In the U/13 boys' event, Matt Hudson and Jayden Lever performed well with 26th and 29th positions.

    Meanwhile, U/15 girl Beth Thomas ran her usual gritty race for a fine 23rd.

  • Nene Valley also had four athletes representing their schools at Beverley.


  • For Bourne Grammar School, Jade Carvath-Smith had another excellent race to take 3rd and was well backed up by Emma Hormsby in 14th.

    The Robert Manning College's James Thomas and Ben Hampson led their school to a fine result with 12th and 13th positions respectively.
