It would be lovely if our politicians, local and national, didn’t spend vast amounts of our money, employing people to wear uniforms and drive around the country pretending to protect us by hassling innocent people and carting them off to police stations miles away and locking them up overnight for absolutely no reason at all other than that it’s a bit of a laugh and they know can always get away with it.
It would also be nice if the same people didn’t spend other people’s money planting silly trees in our town centres and then removing them because they’re obvously inappropriate.
It’s a pity that it’s only when a senior politician takes the precaution of recording a conversation with police officers that, eventually, a liar is sent to gaol.
We should not need a Commissioner for Crime and Police, but there is virtually nothing to protect people from, all too often, deliberate wrongdoing by the police.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission is a joke.
