Just over a year has elapsed since Bourne reverberated to the sounds and sights of BRM Day and I am delighted to say that thanks to the combined efforts of the townspeople of Bourne, our sponsors and volunteers, the organising committee has been able over the past year to donate a total of £56,000 to the two nominated charities for the event namely, Bourne Outdoor Swimming Pool and Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
Some £12,000 of this amount alone has come from the sales of the commemorative DVD of the day which henceforth will be handled by the newly formed BRM Association which has been formed to perpetuate the team’s history and legacy. Again, all proceeds from future sales will benefit the two charities.
I think it is fair to say that there are few other towns the size of Bourne that could provide such a demonstration of total community involvement as was seen on BRM Day and on behalf of my fellow committee members, may I offer our grateful thanks to all who have helped us to raise this phenomenal amount for two such worthwhile charities.
