Letter: Grateful for poppy appeal generosity

My very grateful thanks to the very generous people of Stamford and surrounding villages who have supported this year’s Poppy Appeal by giving and supporting this event.

Thanks also to the supermarkets, pubs, clubs, schools and businesses who had a Poppy box on their premises. The three supermarkets were very successful, Morrisons £9,946, Waitrose £6,587 and Sainsburys £5,793. My thanks to those volunteers who manned these during the two weeks. The Stamford branch of the Royal British Legion had their mobile unit in Stamford High Street on Friday and Saturday November 7 and 8 with the Military Dogs and Handlers from St George’s Barracks, also a street collection on the Saturday by the Army and Airforce Cadets raised £2,446 in total for both days.

Up to writing this, the Appeal for Stamford and District has reached the fantastic total of £36,100 with more donations to come in.
