Ok. So we have got the new shop under way and we are looking forward to the arrival of an experienced manager to take things forward from here.
It’s time to redouble our efforts to rehome as many dogs and cats as possible before the year end. Great news that four of our lovely lurchers have found homes but as always two more are due to come in. Sadly the media bears some responsibilty for they way they report things. As a result one grumpy growl from a dog that families have had for years of happy and uneventful ownership now seems to be the trigger to get rid of them. Some of the cats have been homed but we still have a number left of all ages and colours.
Christmas seems to be a time when the lure of chocolate is strong. We ran a chocolate tombola outside the M&S store at Springfields as part of the stores support for Three Counties. We had shoppers queuing up to spend £1 for 5 chances of a win. The delight on the faces of the successful, even on winning a 10p lollipop was something to behold. Oh the joy of winning.
On the subject of chocolate it is a good opportunity to remind dog owners that chocolate is toxic for dogs. Similarly grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, chives, macadamia nuts and alcohol are all are dangerous for them to eat or drink. There are other human foods in addition so best to stick to letting them enjoy their own food at Christmas.
And now on the subject of Christmas and the struggle to think of presents to buy why not gift someone a “sponsor a dog” subscription. For a one off payment or a small regular monthly standing order you could solve the present for that “difficult to buy for” person and help the dogs at Three Counties.
