Following the appeal by Lincolnshire Police at the end of last year for knitted teddies, members of the Inner Wheel Club of Bourne have been very busy with their needles.

The club have now handed over the first batch of teddies to the Police Station in Bourne and are hoping to knit lots more in the future.

Lincolnshire Police issued the appeal for assistance bears to Road Traffic Officers.

These bears are used to console children involved in a road traffic accident until emergency services can deal with the accident situation. They help to keep children calm in what is sometimes a frightening experience.

The police asked if there were any knitting clubs or individuals that would be willing to become part of its volunteer base to enable us to knit an annual supply of 500 bears.
