Lincolnshire county councillor, South Kesteven district councillor and Bourne town councillor Helen Powell (Lincs Ind) walked the Santa Fun Run at Burghley Park in Stamford in December.

She said: “It was my privilege to run (walk actually) in the Santa Fun Run again last Christmas for charity.

“I was supported amazingly by so many people sponsoring me who wish to support the Dementia South Lincs Support group and raised a whopping £521 for them.

“A sincere thanks to all who so generously sponsored me.

“A group of the Dementia group also ran/walked to raise much needed funding.

“It was a great pleasure for me to arrange a coffee/hot chocolate at Time for Tea to present the group, along with other ‘runners’, from the group, with the cheque for £521 which I know will help with the support and care. “Dementia South Lincs is amazing at supporting sufferers and their carers.”

Heather Gilling, chairman of Dementia Support South Lincs, said: “We were thrilled when Helen chose us as one of her charities during her year of office as mayor and we are even more delighted that she is continuing to support our work.”
