Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex is enjoying a visit to RAF Wittering today (Tuesday) in her role as Honorary Air Commodore of the station.

The helicopter carrying Sophie touched down at the base mid-morning and she was greeted by pupils from Wittering Primary School. Year 6 pupils Rebecca O’Sullivan and Owen Harrison handed her a bouquet before she met service personnel in the officers’ mess. She presented good conduct, long service and overseas service medals and certificate.

This afternoon she is due to visit the children’s centre at the primary school, where she will meet various groups and rename it as the Wittering Families’ Centre.
