At the Stamford Photographic Society April meeting, club chairman John Hillier gave a presentation entitled ‘Trackside Meanderings’ about steam railways.
John showed a range of splendid and evocative images, with many fine black and white prints from the 1980s and 1990s. John also described the restoration of the steam engine no. 45596 ‘Bahamas’, a project which has received £776,000 of Heritage Lottery Fund support.
The society entered the 2015 Brotherhood Cup hosted by the Peterborough Photographic Society on April 21. Fourteen clubs were represented and, beating stiff competition, Wisbech won the cup.
There was SPS success with the individual image - of the 112 images entered four received maximum marks including ‘Geese at Dawn’ by SPS member David Townshend.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, May 21, 8pm at Great Casterton Church Hall, when the competition will be Windows and Doors and John Eaton will give a talk on his travel and aerial photography.
