Today is Children in Need and people across the area are taking part in fundraising events.
We’ve got a list of some of the events going on, but we know there are more. If you’re holding an event, send your photos, videos and a few words about what you have been doing to email@example.com and we’ll include them in next week’s paper.
. Today (Friday) the volunteers at the Cards for Good Causes shop in St John’s Church, Stamford, will bake cakes for sale in aid of Children in Need. The sale will be held outside the church if the weather is nice, but inside the church if not. Coffee and tea will also be available on the day.
. A musician from Rutland will play the keyboard in Uppingham today to help raise money for Children In Need. Malcolm Darby will play at the Falcon Hotel in Uppingham during lunch time, starting at 10.30am. All donations are welcomed.
. Members from the Rutland and District Driving Instructors Association took part in the Big Learner Relay last week raising over £85 for Children In Need.
The relay which started in Scotland, reached the Rutland group in Leicester on Thursday, where they drove their car through to Uppingham market place, with Pudsey securely strapped to the roof of the car.
The team also let people sponsor a spot on the Instructors car - helping to raise even more money.
The relay is set to finish in Brimingham on Appeals night which will be this Friday.
. A group of Stamford parents have organised a family-themed table sale fundraiser which will take place tomorrow (Saturday) at Barn Hill, Methodist Church in Stamford.
Homemade goodies, bric-a-brac and nearly new items will be on sale at the Church from 11am -2pm, along with indoor games, a tombola, homemade tea and cakes and Pudsey goodies.
Entry is only 50p and anyone who would like to book a table at the event or donate prizes can contact Emma Price at firstname.lastname@example.org.
. Over 40 pupils at the Welland School of Dancing will be taking part in a world record attempt in aid of Children In Need on Sunday.
Pupils, parents and teachers at the dance school in St Mary’s Street, Stamford will be taking part in a national tapathon starting at 1pm.
The UK wide tapathon will try to break the world record for the most number of tap dancers, dancing the same tap routine, at the same time.
All of those taking part have brought Tapathon 2014 t-shirts, raising more than £400 for Children in Need, the school is also running a Wear a Onesie week to raise even more money for the good cause.
. Children at Kiddiwinks playgroup in Uppingham will be dressing up as superheroes & selling cakes next Tuesday, in aid of Children In Need.
