A woman has pledged to raise as much as she can for the British Heart Foundation after the shock of her mum suffering a heart attack.

Joanne Cole remembers vividly the phone call from her sister, Nicky Laybourn, on April 24 this year, telling her that their mum, Helen Found, had just had a heart attack.

Joanne was overwhelmed by the news. She said: “We had the feeling of helplessness, it was the last thing I expected to happen to my mum, who exercises and eats healthy.”

The quick response of the ambulance that day and the help from the paramedics thankfully saved Joanne’s mum’s life. Helen is now making progress under a rehabilitation programme. And Joanne is now urging people to show their support for the British Heart Foundation through a campaign she has called Say It Loud And Wear It Proud. She wants people to literally wear a heart on their sleeve - be it in the form of a stencil or temporary tattoo - and upload a picture of it to www.facebook.com/sayitloudandwearitproud.

Joanne is also setting up an event to help raise even more money for the charity and the local rehabilitation services which are helping her mum. She is inviting as many people as possible to jump onto a bouncy castle over a 24-hour-period. It will be held at Bourne Fire Station in South Road from 8am on October 3 to 8am on October 4.

Joanne wants the community to get involved and participate by donating just £3 for a 20-minute bounce. Tea, coffee and homemade cakes will also be available.

Joanne said: “We are so lucky that we have been fully sponsored and supported for this event by Bourne Fire Station, Larkfleet Homes, Precision Sports of Stamford and Bourne Sainsbury’s.

“Let’s all get together, have fun and raise money for such a fantastic cause in any way we can.”
