The 22nd Annual Rotary Club of Bourne Young Musician Competition was held at Bourne Academy on Sunday, January 18.

As in previous years the standards were high and the competition stiff, giving the judges, Joyce Mason, Lesley Pexton and Nicholas Taylor a hard task, indeed. After much deliberation and words of encouragement to all the competitors awards were made as follows:

1. Gold:

Westfield Primary Academy Jazz Band

Bourne Abbey C of E Primary Academy Choir

Westfield Primary Academy Vocal Sextet: (Sophie Walker/Lily Baron-Clark/Harry Golding/Ella Rosam-Lee/Xanthia Stanton/Callum Mason)

Tiffany Wong:

James McCrae:

2. Silver:

Westfield Primary Academy Duo (Xanthia Stanton/Callum Mason):

Westfield Primary Academy Vocal Quartet (Sophie Walker/Lily Baron- Clark/Ella Rosam-Lee/Harry Golding):

Westfield Primary Academy KS1 Choir

Isobel Fovargue

3. Silverwood Trophy, for best overall performance:

James McCrae

The Gold awardees will take part in the Rotary District 1070 Semi-finals and we wish them every success at the next level.

The Rotary Club of Bourne thanked Wild Heart Music of the Angel Precinct, Bourne, for sponsoring the prizes, the Inner Wheel Club of Bourne who provided the refreshments, the judges, Bourne Academy and its staff for their assistance in staging the show and the competitors and their supporters without whom there would be no competition.

Young Musician forms part of The Rotary Club of Bourne’s Youth Programme and still to come are The Young Writer and Young Artist Competitions.
