The Rotary Club of Bourne saw its biggest turnout yet as 350 people took part in the Run in the Woods event on Sunday.

The weather was ideal for running and spectators lined the paths in Bourne Wood to watch the races.

There were 125 entrants for the 3km fun run and 225 runners for the 10km. The event raised more than £4,000 for Rotary causes.

Race director Tony Anders said: “Thank you to everyone for coming along and making it a great day out for all.”

He said the run could only have taken place with the generous support from sponsors. These were: Bourne Prepared Produce, Rutland Sports, The White Horse Baston, Bourne Services, Larkfleet, Hoppers, Branch Bros, Manor Energy, and Sainsbury’s who provided the water and bananas.

The 10km was won by Simon Fell of Stamford Striders in a time of 34m 59s seconds. First of the ladies was Maggie Skinner, also Stamford Striders, in 40m 08s, beating the run record of 40.20.

The 3km was won by Aaron Hunt in 11m 14s. First for the girls was Elin James in 12m 47s.
