Reward now £60,000 in hunt for Alan Wood's killer
Published Date: 03 June 2010 A REWARD of £60,000 is now being offered in a bid to find the sadistic killer of Alan Wood.
Mr Wood, who was 50, died after a savage attack at his home in the quiet village of Lound in October.
So far, all attempts to find his murderer have proved unsuccessful. But now police are hoping the reward – the largest ever offered in Lincolnshire – will help bring the killer, or killers, to justice.
This week officers revealed more details about the horrific killing, along with new CCTV footage showing a suspect walking through Stamford.
They believe Mr Wood, who worked as a gardener and at Sainsbury's in Bourne, was tortured to get pin numbers for his bank cards.
The murder squad had already released CCTV footage of a man using Mr Wood's cards at cash point machines in Stamford and in Bourne.
Police have also released new footage of the investigation's main suspect walking past a Stamford restaurant after using bank cards belonging to murder victim Alan Wood.
The new pictures show the man smoking and wearing a distinctive stripped scarf as he passes the Subway shop in High Street, on October 24, the day Mr Wood's body was found. He was also seen there the next day.
Police have trawled through thousands of hours of CCTV footage from shops in Stamford and Bourne.
This has been analysed by an expert who says that the man walks with a limp, with his right leg slightly longer than his left. He is about 5ft 10in.
