Relationships explained within sex education
A CD Rom, believed to be the first of its kind on Sex and Relationships Education (SRE), has been created for all secondary and special schools across Lincolnshire.
The Relationships Matter CD Rom has been developed in response to consultation with teachers who said they needed training, information, guidance and practical activities to help them provide sex education to their pupils.
The CD Rom focuses on relationships and encourages young people to delay sex until they are ready. This is in response to young people who often say that they know too little, too late.
County councillor Christine Talbot said: "There are already examples of excellent practice in schools and we need to build on this so that all schools are delivering quality Sex and Relationship Education (SRE) and young people are getting the information they need.
"Effective SRE is one of the key factors which need to be in place to reduce teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted rates among young people."
The CD Rom has been evaluated by teachers and pupils as a draft and is being circulated to all schools following some fine tuning to make sure it meets teacher and pupil needs.
Sue Jablonskas, the regional teenage pregnancy coordinator for the East Midlands said: "Lincolnshire is leading the way regionally with the highest under-18 conception rate decrease across the East Midlands.
"The Relationships Matters CD is an excellent resource and will undoubtedly result in improved SRE for young people in Lincolnshire. I am keen that this good practice is shared across the region."
