Police close recruitment campaign after three hours
POLICE shut down phonelines for a week-long recruitment campaign after just three hours because its application packs had all gone.
Lincolnshire Police are recruiting for officers to take up positions over the next 18 months.
The campaign launched at 9am today. By 11am more than 1,000 requests for application packs to register for national assessment had been received. Lines closed at midday because the packs had all gone.
Senior recruitment officer David Freeman said: "We expected a good level of interest for applications and this has been a fantastic response to promotional and publicity work carried out.
"We had a target number of applicants to meet our recruitment needs for the next 12-18 months. We are delighted that so many people are interested in joining Lincolnshire Police as police officers, but it is also regrettable that there will be people who are disappointed that they were unable to get an application form."
The police force is advising people who want to become officers to consider training for the Special Constabulary to get experience of police work.
