Parking poses problems at school in Bourne
A LETTER will be sent to a primary school asking its parents to be more considerate when parking in the area to pick up their children.
Bourne Town Council has discussed the issue affecting Manning Road with drivers parking on the pavement when collecting pupils from Bourne Abbey Primary Academy.
Councillors talked about the dangers posed by drivers at their highways and planning committee meeting held at the Town Hall on Tuesday evening.
The council will write to the chairman of governors at the school in Abbey Road to ask if something could be publicised to parents to help resolve the issue.

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 07:06 AMAh, a chat with the Governors. Just like the poor folk of Austerby, the Governors don't give a hoot. Worse than that, they cannot influence the situation. Only the authorities can do that and they absolutely will not act outside of having a bit of a chat about it for ten years or so. As for the police, don't make me laugh. They're too busy telling folk how to mark their bikes. How about double yellows, a permanent police presence at drop off and pick up times and a pad full of parking tickets? None of this is difficult yet somehow, nothing ever changes. As for a permanent solution; parking provision must be made for the changing demographics. Somehow, LCC etc have failed to notice that most people drive everywhere today and there are lots more people packed into the schools. Why are we so badly served by local government; what is the point of Councillors? They all look pretty impotent unless handing out planning permission for another food outlet we don't need.
