AN Olympic gold medalist came to Bourne on Wednesday to speak at an annual memorial evening.
Athlete Tessa Sanderson, who won a gold medal in the 1984 javelin event, was at this year’s Len Pick Memorial Evening at Bourne Corn Exchange in Abbey Road on Wednesday evening. She spoke about the sport, the challenges she has faced in life and the charity she has set up
During the evening she was supported by Steve Miller, who has been heavily involved with the planning of the 2012 Olympic Games.
The memorial evening, which is in its sixth year and promotes the charitable trust founded by the late farmer Len Pick, was a great success according to trust chairman Andy Rowe.
He said: “Tessa and Steve visited all the Bourne schools during the day and were able to impart to their appreciative audiences something of the background to the London Olympics.
“The evening event in the Corn Exchange was equally successful.
“We are delighted that the whole day went really well.”
