Kevin reveals his passion for buses

EVERYBODY who walks or drives through Bourne will be familiar with the blue Delaine buses.

It's a long-standing family business and here Kevin Delaine-Smith tells more about the firm and reveals his passion for buses.

* How many family members are involved in the firm and what is your role?

I have three brothers and one aunt working for the firm. I am a company director. I drive daily and attend to what the buses need.

* What job might you have liked if you were not involved in the family business?

Possibly a professional speedway driver.

* What role does a bus service have in the 21st century?

It's a vital service for a rural community.

* What sparked your interest in vintage buses?

It's all I have ever known – buses have been around me from birth – so it seems entirely natural to me.

* What are your hobbies?

I love my buses, speedway and my family – but not necessarily in that order!

* What is your greatest passion?

My lovely wife (Christine) and children (Stevie, Robin, Zoe, Sherri and Stirling).

* What do you like most about Bourne?

Bourne is a great town to live in. We have many friends here too.

* If you could go anywhere for a holiday, where would you choose?

Always Cornwall.

* Tell us something people might not know about you.

I am an open book: What you see is what you get.

* What was the last record you listened to?

It is called Infinity and by Guru Josh Project.

* What habits annoy you?

Rudeness in any form

* If you were stuck on a desert island, what one item would you have as an essential? A Delaine bus

* Describe yourself in three words

Very lucky man.
