Judy tops town and district polls

Bourne Town Council's East Ward was one of the few parishes in the area which faced an election.

Eight candidates were competing for seven seats and Derrick Crump was the man who missed out.

Mr Crump, who is currently away on charity work in Zambia, was just 60 votes behind Don Fisher and Pet Moisey, who took the final two seats.

Judy Smith topped the vote, as she did in the district council elections, followed by Guy Cudmore.

And the town council welcomes new face Brenda Johnson, who said: "I would like to thank the people of Bourne for giving me the chance to represent them.

"I am feeling very positive about the challenge ahead and looking forward to my first meeting on Tuesday night.

"I would like people to know that they can contact me at anytime on my mobile, 07875 308837."

Bourne Town Council seats in the West Ward were uncontested and a vacancy remains. This will now be filled either with a by-election or co-opting a member onto the council.
