Brian loses seat on SKDC

Outgoing mayor Brian Fines lost his seat on SKDC but remains a Bourne town councillor.

He said: "I would like to thank all those who supported me (at the election) and also during the past year as mayor.

"Anything else I write may be interpreted as sour grapes.

"However, there were some interesting aspects both in terms of tactics and their results."

Mr Fines criticised Trevor Holmes, who won a seat on South Kesteven District Council, for standing as an independent candidate when he had previously stood for Labour.

He also defended SKDC's management of the consultation on the proposed sale of its housing stock, which Mr Holmes criticised in his election leaflets.

Mr Fines wished his former colleagues well for the future.

He said: "The Conservative-led administration has worked very effectively in the past, albeit it has to meet so many Government directives.

"I am sure that will continue in the future."
