All aboard for planting session

GREEN-FINGERED youngsters have done their bit to ensure that Bourne is looking its best by planting flowers in a boat.

Teenagers from The Robert Manning College have supported the Bourne in Bloom effort to win awards in the East Midlands in Bloom competition.

Six pupils, from the school in Edinburgh Crescent, put plants donated by Bourne in Bloom and Bourne Town Council into the boat outside the Darby and Joan Hall, in South Street.

Youngsters also took along some of the plants grown by the school's garden club to decorate the boat, which was donated by the town's scouts group last year.

Town clerk and Bourne in Bloom member Nelly Jacobs has praised the youngsters.
