Letters: FA needs to get in touch with reality

Having read your article on the demotion of Bourne from the UCL Premier League my comment is as follows: How galling it must be for a club that is supported generously by a section of the Bourne public to take this demotion from an organisation such as the Football Association.

The country is in the grips of financial turmoil with a number of non-league clubs ceasing to exist because of lack of support, for example, King's Lynn, a notable name locally.

The pithy prawn sandwich brigade which controls football in this country has never been in contact with reality. Its own track record speaks for itself:

- Building a national stadium without a removable pitch, exceeding the original budget considerable for such a project and forcing off the planning committee for this project Ken Bates, the only FA member with any substantial construction knowledge.

- Building a national soccer centre of excellence at Burton, which it would appear is still not completed and reported to be twice over the original budget.

- Going back in history, sacking the only English manager, Alf Ramsey, who ever has won the World Cup up to now. Such incompetence and mismanagement has been occurring for a number of years.

The FA spouts on about supporting the grass roots and feeder system of football. It does this by imposing ridiculous regulations on teams like Bourne and Holbeach, which in the long-term may throttle out of existence such teams.

The news of Bourne Town Football Club in last week's paper is a decision made by a committee who are more into politics than football.

They would be doing a better job if they searched for some decent officials on the field, as there is not one good one in the country: the constant changes in rules have ruined the lot.

The committee which made the decision must have been chaired by Ken Dodd, as it is a joke.
