A couple who have been raising funds for more than 30 years could hit the £100,000 target tomorrow.
Dr Michael and Margaret McGregor have so far raised £94,896 in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. The cause is close to the couple’s heart as their son John battled leukaemia and died in 1985.
This year’s event will take place at Bourne Corn Exchange from 10am to 1pm tomorrow (Thursday). Admission is £1, which includes a tea or coffee and a mince pie.
Last year’s coffee morning was a huge success, raising about £4,000. More than 400 people attended and there were queues outside the door 45 minutes before the start of the event, which as well as refreshments, included a variety of stalls and games.
Dr McGregor said he did not expect to hit the £100,000 mark this year, but that it might be reached next year.
“It would be a fantastic milestone to hit, “ he said.
