The Stroke Association carrying out free blood pressure tests to battle strokes

FREE blood pressure testing will be carried out by The Stroke Association at an event in Barclays Bank in North Street, Bourne.

Stroke Association staff will be on hand to provide information and there will be an opportunity to make a donation to the charity. The event will take place on Thursday, February 23, from 9.30am-4.30pm.

The Stroke Association provides a family and carer support service throughout Lincolnshire.

One of the Lincolnshire co-ordinators, Maggie Buck, said: “High blood pressure is the biggest cause of stroke, and over 40 per cent of strokes could be prevented if it was controlled. It affects just over a quarter of the population in Lincolnshire.

“We hope lots of people come to see us on the day. Lots of people don’t realise they have high blood pressure, so this is a quick, painless and free way to get checked out.”

Andy Taylor, branch manager at Barclays in Bourne, says: “This is the beginning of our partnership with The Stroke Association and we will continue to help the charity support its clients.”
