Laughter yoga sessions in Bourne a great success
Those taking part seem to be having lots of fun
ANOTHER yoga session with a difference has been held to get people laughing themselves to a better body, mind and soul.
Linda Nightingale ran the Bourne to Laugh class at Wake House in North Street, Bourne, on Saturday afternoon.
About 15 people attended the workshop, which is a type of laughter therapy which Linda describes as “laughter yoga”.
Qualified laughter yoga leader Linda, of Beech Avenue, Bourne, was delighted with how it went, following on from a similar class held in November.
She said: “It went really well. It was lovely because quite a few new people came along, as well as those who came last time, and they were all very enthusiastic about it.”
The sessions involve different laughter, breathing and gentle stretching exercises with participants being encouraged to let their child-like playfulness come to the fore to convert fake laughter into real laughter.
Linda, who is also a qualified holistic therapist, said attending the group brings many health benefits, such as boosting your immune system, releasing feel-good hormones endorphins and encouraging positive thinking, which relaxes the whole body.
After two successful sessions, Linda has decided to continue the group at Wake House twice a month on different days.
The laughter yoga sessions cost £5 per person and are suitable for people aged 16 and over.
The next will be held on Monday, January 30, from 1.30pm, and another on Saturday, February 11, from 1.30pm.
Participants should wear loose-fitting clothes.
