Greens was the subject for the Stamford Photographic Society’s annual digital projected image competition, and it proved a rich source of inspiration for members.
Eleven members entered more than 40 images of not only leaves, vegetables and fruit in many forms, but also landscapes, wildlife and fairground stalls.
Invited judge Sue Churchill was presented with a challenge but chose David Townshend’s striking image ‘Explosion of Leaves’. There was a three-way tie for second place, between another of David’s images ‘Perfection in a pod’, and images from two recently-joined members: Peter Bower with his still life of fruit ‘5aday’ and Veronica Watson with her creative, impressionistic ’Island of Greens’. Sue West and St John Burkett shared third place with ‘Baby Green Iguana’ and ‘Green Wall’. Veronica Watson completed an impressive showing with two images scoring equally in fourth place.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, April 21 at 8pm , when the competition subject will be Our Architectural Heritage.
