Give and take is the secret to 60 years happy marriage according to a Bourne couple.

Roy Miller, 87, and his wife Anne, 83, celebrated their diamond wedding with flowers and cards sent by friends and relatives on Thursday last week.

They also received a congratulatory card from the Queen.

Anne first met Roy at the cinema while she was with a friend and work
colleague.

The next meeting didn’t happen for two weeks as Roy worked shifts on the railway, but love blossomed and almost three years later the couple were married at Watford Registry
Office.

Anne said: “It was quite a fine day and sunny. We went to Boscastle in Cornwall for a week as our
honeymoon.

Roy worked as a welder on De Havilland aircraft, before joining Sun Printers in Watford where he was an engineer and chief fire officer for the factory. The couple have no children

The couple continued to live in Watford until 1993, when they moved to their home in South Road, Bourne on Roy’s
retirement.

The couple are keen gardeners, although Roy’s health prevents him from doing much in the garden
now.

They also enjoy meeting friends at the Saturday coffee mornings in Bourne Methodist Church Hall.
