Have your say

A rare weather phenomenon caused clouds over Stamford, Bourne and Rutland to take on pearl-like colours.

Several readers sent in photos of the colourful skies last night (Monday, February 1). Known as iridescent nacreous clouds, the colours were caused by ice crystals refracting the sun’s rays in clouds about 70,000ft above the earth’s surface.

This is far higher than where clouds are normally found, and in much colder air.
