For the second year running, Bourne Westfield Primary Academy has ‘ignited a passion for learning’ with the launch of an exciting science week! Teaming up again with Malcolm Sargent Primary School in Stamford and Fulbridge Academy in Peterborough, this year the theme is flight.
The week commenced with a whole school challenge day which required the children to design and make the best paper plane. Each year group has provided fun and hands on science activities for their pupils including rocket mice, making hovercrafts and parachutes.
Both teachers and pupils have had an opportunity to share amazing science experiments with their class on our show and tell science day.
The week got off to a flying success.
On Thursday the children had the opportunity to fly their self-designed kites. They have created some amazing designs including box kites and more traditional designs with lovely ribbons and decorative touches.
Deputy Headteacher, Kate Atkinson commented: “The topic of flight has really inspired our children this week. As always the children have really embraced their learning, using their imagination to the full.
“The lovely weather has allowed them to get outside and try out their inventions.”
