Bourne Westfield opened its doors on Saturday 7th December for their annual Christmas Fair, run by The Friends of Westfield - a committee of willing parents and staff.
The event was a huge success with people pouring in to watch the musical entertainment courtesy of the school’s jazz band and choirs. Santa and his elves were very busy throughout the afternoon with many young visitors queuing to share their thoughts about Christmas gifts.
Chair of the committee and joint fair organiser Lorna Clayden, commented, “The fair was extremely successful with huge numbers visiting from the start to the finish. To date approximately £3,000 has been raised which will provide additional resources for the children at the Academy. I would like to thank all the parents, staff, children and the local community for supporting our event.
Also all members of the Friends of Westfield who worked tirelessly to ensure the event ran smoothly. I would also like to thank the large number of local companies who once again supported us.”
During the last academic year the Friends have organised among other things discos, the Christmas Fair and the Summer Fair. They have recycled old mobile phones, ink cartridges and sold used uniform all to benefit the school.
Money raised in recent years has contributed towards interactive whiteboards, net books, cameras, school trips, air conditioning, wet play equipment, recorders, sports kit, Year 6 leavers party, outdoor areas, trim trails, raised beds and much more.
This year the group are raising money to improve the playground area together with the sporting facilities.
