In September Bourne Abbey started a quest to reduce the school’s energy consumption.

Three Year 6 pupils were selected to be our Carbon Ambassadors to promote the green message in our school.

The children have created imaginative and snappy captions to encourage everyone to join in with this wonderful initiative. A memorable Energy Code produced by the Ambassadors helps everyone in the school to remember how to look after our future.

The Carbon Ambassadors recently attended a training workshop to learn all about the Greenhouse Effect and why it is important to reduce the amount of energy we use. This led to them devising an audit of Bourne Abbey’s energy usage.

At last week’s ‘Score Carbon Ambassadors’ celebration event, the Lincoln Sustainability Team were delighted with the overall energy saving in school. Plans for the future include saving even more energy and spreading the green message.

A special thank you, Matthew, Millie and Sam for all your wonderful ideas and to the commitment you have shown to the project.
