Every classroom and corridor throughout Bourne Abbey CE Primary Academy has been full of the spirit of Christmas since the start of Advent.
It was obvious from the look on every child’s face that they were enjoying the Christmas preparations and the excitement was rising daily!
Our Kindergarten children have been busy using their senses to create an assortment of tree decorations and used their painted hands to create reindeer on their Christmas cards! It was a truly magical atmosphere every day.
Over in the Nursery, the children were equally busy with their own preparations. They too have enjoyed creating a wide variety of Christmas goodies and were very excited to be able to invite their parents and carers in to join them around the Christmas tree singing some traditional and fun songs. A festive mince pie treat rounded the visit off perfectly.
The highlight of any Christmas at Bourne Abbey is the Reception Nativity and this year was no exception. The children performed a sparkling musical Nativity called ‘Shine, Star, Shine’ to their delighted parents and carers with many a teary eye by the end of it. Every child who took part in the Nativity was a shining star in their own right that morning! The singing was magnificent and the children acted out their roles superbly.
Despite being exceptionally busy, Santa managed to make a surprise visit to the Kindergarten, Nursery and the Reception classes’ parties.
Year One children made Advent crowns and loved creating their mini Christingle oranges.
Parents and carers were invited to join Key Stage 1 at the Abbey Church for their Christmas Carol Service.
The children had been practising a combination of traditional and modern Christmas songs for several weeks and they were in good spirit and voice.
The Key Stage 2 Christmas Service held at the Abbey Church was a delightful blend of singing that filled the Church and the performance of a short play ‘A Christmas Collage’.
It is safe to say that all our Bourne Abbey pupils finished the term tired but stuffed full of wonderful Christmas memories to take with them into the holidays.
