Special tennis lessons held at Bourne school

PUPILS at a primary school have been getting to grips with a racket and a tennis ball during special lessons.

Children in Year 2 at Bourne Abbey Primary Academy have been enjoying coaching sessions, given by national company R2R Tennis.

The sessions were free thanks to a “tennis in schools” programme organised by the Lincolnshire Lawn Tennis Association and Bourne Tennis Club.

Year 2 leader Alison Jones said the youngsters at the school, in Abbey Road have all enjoyed learning new skills in a fun way.

She said: “The coaching has been excellent. I am sure the children will be very welcome at the tennis club if they would like to take up the game.”

Tennis coach Matilda Clark said: “The sessions have been going really well.

“The children have been learning basic co-ordination skills related to tennis, and will learn something new each week and progress on from there.”

She is running a similar session at Edenham Primary School today.
