Schools go to top of class

Local schools outperformed the national averages in Key Stage two results for 2007 published at the end of last week.

Both Bourne primaries produced good results, with Bourne Abbey’s overall score up on last year and Westfield’s results only fractionally lower.

Among the village schools, Billingborough and the Bythams primary schools were both among the best performers, both coming in the top five per cent nationally for their value added score, which reflects progress from key stage one to key stage two.

County councillor Patricia Bradwell, executive councillor for children’s services, said: “I am pleased to see many Lincolnshire schools performing well nationally, a testament to the quality of education that is being provided. The overwhelming majority of our schools continue to improve on their performance, which is already of a good standard.

“Staff, pupils, governors and parents deserve recognition for their tremendous efforts and I look forward to seeing our schools go from strength to strength.”
