Runners from Bourne Abbey Primary Academy on form

A PRIMARY school is celebrating the success of its cross country teams.

Staff and pupils at Bourne Abbey Primary Academy, in Abbey Road, Bourne, have praised the children who did really well in the South East Lincolnshire area championships towards the end of last year.

The Year 5 and 6 boys team came first in the event held at Crowland, with pupil Adam Whitwell being named the individual winner of this event.

At the same event the Year 5 and 6 girls team came second, with fellow pupil Erin Bailey crossing the finish line as the individual winner of one of the races.

Earlier in the season, the Year 3 and 4 girls team also won a cross country event.

Headteacher Cherry Edwards said: “We are extremely proud of all of the children who have taken part in the cross country festivals.

“Their enjoyment and enthusiasm during the events shone through.”
